So I have a new favorite hobby!!!!! I was searching for a cute girls camp idea - I have long been a fan of Sassy Jewlery and www.mountaingirlsilver.com , I wear my kids names around my neck and never take them off. I started looking into how I could do it myself. My friend found me the following blog with step by step instructions. I bought my alphabet from Harbor Freight for $4.99, the washers are $.10 each! I stamped the names of my kids' classmates and made key chains for Valentine's Day. We are doing necklaces for gils camp. Sew in love with BAGS!

 

 

 

 

I am sew in love with bags right now. I spent 3 days straight doing laundry this week - catching up from our old washer and dryer dying, we got a new set (I am now the fancy owner of some front loaders). After all that boring work I decided to do something fun. I've been wanting this pattern for a while now, it is the "Frenchy Bag" by Amy Butler. There is a handbag size and a shoulder bag size. Once I got going I just couldn't quit. I made 3 bags yesterday and 2 more this morning. They are all the handbag size except for the super cute light green and blue one - that is the shoulder bag size. Seriously, I love making bags! I think the things that attracts me to them so much is that they are a quick project (about an hour) and there are so many cute fabrics out there - for me it's instant gratification!

Cute Scripture Bags

 

So, as one of my escapes when life gets crazy is for Cami to get crafty. While we were living through a most horrible January I was able to sew some of these cute and easy scripture bags to fill my mind with some less than suicidal thoughts. During Christmas I sewed 6 different ones as gifts and I wish I had taken a picture - they are sew cute and sew easy. I also sewed a cute apron and discovered a new hobby that I will post later this week when I finish it.

Loving Family Massacre

 

So our dog Charlie has an affinity for anything plastic. Pens, markers, even straws and crayons. He has a way of sniffing out these types of objects and sneeking away to destroy them. His latest obsession has been with the Loving Family Dollhouse dolls. Poor Josi. She loves to play with her little people. Appearantly she will grow up with a love for the handicapped because Charlie has destroyed (as you can see) many members of our Loving Family. It's interesting that he has just chosen to remove a hand here and a leg there. Unfortanately, the baby has faired the worse - you may not veable to tell but she is missing a large chunk of her head. Ah Charlie, I will learn to love you!

Christmas 2008

Just a few pics from Christmas 2008. The big hits were: Max - Legos, Legos, Legos. Sami - Easy Bake Oven, Karaokee Machine. Josi- Ball Pit, Elmo. We had tons of fun!

I love Jeff

 

Can I just say how much I love Jeffery Robert Hurst? Jeff is super-man. Jeff is smart. Jeff works hard. Jeff naturally knows what to do in every situation. Jeff has true instincts. Jeff is good at balancing his time. Jeff is wise. Jeff is capable and talented. Jeff is good at everything he tries (sometimes that drives me crazy - there's nothing he stinks at). Jeff is kind.
This winter just before Christmas Jeff took "his girls" out to lunch downtown. We passed by a homeless man on the sidewalk and Jeff just reached in his pocket, pulled out some money and handed it to him without stopping. After lunch while we were in the car Sami said out of the blue "Thank you Daddy for giving that man a dollar." I remember another time when we were first married and we were coming out of Walmart. Jeff was wearing his favorite sweatshirt - it was black and soft and he just loved it. A man approached us in the parking lot asking for help - we honestly had no cash on us. It was winter time and Jeff didn't even hesitate - he took off his favorite sweatshirt and handed it to the man. I have tried over the years to replace that sweatshirt but even Jeff comments that none of them feel like that one did. Thank you honey for being so kind and giving and strong and wise. I love more today than yesterday but not as much as tommarrow!
